My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Bah Humbug

Well, dear readers, this is more to let you know that I'm still around and wishing I had some recent pics to show you.

Unfortunately this dreaded bug (which has now required a dose of anti-biotics) is still getting the upper hand. Apart from the cough/cold/cough, cough etc. it also saps all one's energy and that, in itself, is the most infuriating part about it!

Apart from essential shopping (well I've still got to eat) that's all I've done this week. Went to Tescos today - gosh that was exciting - then collapsed afterwards. But, as you may have gathered from this missive, I'm awake again now!

The greenhouse, garden, camera and birds are all nagging me to "get out and do something" and I wish I could. I think my camera has probably seized up by now.

I'm not a very good patient in that I will not give in to it and fight it every step of the way. Perhaps I should give into it? NO!!

I don't very often admit to being unwell on the basis that, if I ignore it, it will go away. And what's the point in grumbling? No point at all.

Our local weather forecast for this weekend is really good (she lied!) and I quote:

"A cold Easter Weekend. Some sunshine, but further showers of sleet or snow, with the risk of some more prolonged spells of snow in places on Saturday and Sunday."

However, despite the ghastly weather we've had so far, the tiny black "pinheads" of frogspawn in the pond, are now more like tiny brown wiggly worms so at least they are showing signs of progress.

I'm on Grandson and Doggie duties on Friday and Saturday, but if we get a window of opportunity, then I must get back to Bushey Park 'cause I really want to see how the Egyptian Goslings are faring. And the dog will need exercise.

Fingers crossed......

Right - let's have a bit of spring and summer colour to give us a taste of what's to come - all these (unless stated) were taken in my garden last year:
The emerging leaves of the Snakebark Maple

Early spring seed head of pond grasses

Full summer and the water lilies are blooming

A basket of fuschias

Giant flowering trailing fuschia

Anemones and Choisya (in my Mother's garden)

Sorry to hear you have the dreaded lurgy too Tricia. I'm just so sick of coughing now, I was thinking it was on it's way out, but have had two more attacks in the last couple of hours. It would be so nice to get a decent night's sleep... sigh.
