Beachy Head and Birling Gap

Despite the strong winds and rather dull light with scudding clouds initially this morning, had a great day out at Beachy Head and Birling Gap.

Bird right out on the cliff edge.. Peregrine Falcon woo hoo!!

Exmoor ponies at Birling Gap.. near the National Trust cafe etc.

and soup with a very tasty cheese scone for lunch.. (Frank approved)

Steps from the cliff edge down to the beach

more eroding cliff line!

The end of this house has already become victim of the sea..

The clouds cleared and the sun shone brightly - as we were leaving.. ain't that often the way?
Despite that, a great day out with lovely company !!

Beachy Head & Birling Gap - Friday 29 June

A very hot Friday... I headed east to visit a very good friend for the day.  We both fancined walking somewhere near the sea, so off we went to Beach Head.  The sky was a cloudless blue, the sun shone and there was a very pleasant breeze

A distant view of Birling Gap lighthouse

The flowers on the chalky cliff were lovely

We had some lunch at the pub and then wandered again.. it was so peaceful

The grasses waved in the breeze

We drove a bit further to Birling Gap...

and decided to stop there.. it's a National Trust area, so we stopped for a cuppa
enjoyed the views.  I was standing at the top of a flight of steps that take you down to the beach.. another day..

There was something strange about the end of this house, and I wouldn't be surprised if part of it had fallen into the sea as the cliff erodes.

Our companions when we were outside having our cuppa

The scones looked good but I was too full after a larger than anticipated lunch!!

A really great day in good company ...
