Staying local.. and Warnham LNR

I've driven a few miles over the last 8 days or so, so today I just stayed local.  Did some domestic shopping initially and then a bite to eat and an ice cold Frappe for lunch

There's always a Saturday market in my local main town.. and today Armed Forces Day was being celebrated.. a band was playing Glen Millar etc.

after a bite to eat.. I headed off for a wander at Warnham Nature Reserve.. it was quiet; not uprising really given the time of day and the heat!

This great tit was feeling the heat!!

as was this Blackbird!

very very young Moorhen chics!

 A pleasant day..

Beachy Head & Birling Gap - Friday 29 June

A very hot Friday... I headed east to visit a very good friend for the day.  We both fancined walking somewhere near the sea, so off we went to Beach Head.  The sky was a cloudless blue, the sun shone and there was a very pleasant breeze

A distant view of Birling Gap lighthouse

The flowers on the chalky cliff were lovely

We had some lunch at the pub and then wandered again.. it was so peaceful

The grasses waved in the breeze

We drove a bit further to Birling Gap...

and decided to stop there.. it's a National Trust area, so we stopped for a cuppa
enjoyed the views.  I was standing at the top of a flight of steps that take you down to the beach.. another day..

There was something strange about the end of this house, and I wouldn't be surprised if part of it had fallen into the sea as the cliff erodes.

Our companions when we were outside having our cuppa

The scones looked good but I was too full after a larger than anticipated lunch!!

A really great day in good company ...
