My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Waiting for a chiff chaff...

Up the M23 and M25... grabbed a sandwich and then off to Rye Meads with Pete.

Very quiet.  Advised on the way in that a Chiff Chaff had been heard.  Would have been great to have heard it as it was a grey grey day and the Chiff Chaff heralding spring would have been a definite plus.  But.... it remained silent.

No Kingfishers to be seen either.  Redshank flew off and there were two very sleepy Great Crested Grebes out on the water and 3 much more energetic Little Grebes.  Lots of Shovelers and Gadwall and a few Teal and Tufties.  Pity about the greyness of the sky as it takes away all the colour.

Even Alice (the Vixen) was conspicuous by her absence.

A very few pictures today but hopefully some better light and more tomorrow...

There was quite an amount of blossom on the trees and some Pussy Willow to suggest that spring is very nearly sprung!!

The most prolific bird was, of course, the coot!

It looks like you both had a very nice visit. Good to see the Pussy Willow, always a welcome sight. I think I may have just seen that very same Coot elsewhere ;-)

I enjoyed your earlier post covering your trip to Norfolk too. I've never seen a Spotted Redshank, a lovely and elegant bird I think.
