What a wonderful day for birds and bees!

The sun shone, the sky was blue and the birds were there....well, at least some of them. Chuffed to see the Ruff at London Wetland Centre today - lifer for me (you'll have to imagine it as it was way too far out for a picture).

The sun on the still water made for some great reflections to day.

Shot straight into the sun as these Canada Geese flew over.... came out better than I'd thought it would !

Gadwalls dozing the in warm sunshine

and female Shovelers showing off their lovely greens...

A young Song Thrush managed to find a snack of a snail amongst the shrubbery.

And Migrant Darters..... darted about
First there was one...

Then there were two...

and then three before...

becoming two again.

Couldn't resist this poppy...

or this one!! Sorry for the repetitions!

and finally, some Lizards really enjoyed basking in the sun!

What a beautiful day it was..... hope there's going to many more of these - especially at the beginning of October!

How lovely to see share such a gorgeous day, and to see your terrific shots of birds, reflections, dragonflies and lizards! Here's hoping for more beautiful early fall days for you.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful day! It all looks especially nice when we are in the middle of several days of gloom and rain :-(

Well done on seeing the Ruff; always good to see new birds, and well done with the flying dragons. :)
That second poppy is a cracker Tricia.

Looks like both yourself, and the wildlife enjoyed the sunshine Tricia!
Lovely ripple reflection of the Swan. Great poppy photo's.
The young Thrush looks so fresh, got to feel sorry for the adults with their worn out plumage!
You really are an Ace with those in flight Darters.
The Lizard's basking in the sunshine, so natural, keep em coming Tricia, they really are a treat.

Hi Glo - thank you. I hope we have more of the same too :D

Mick - Sorry to hear you're not getting much sunshine. Always seems strange to me when we have the sun and you over there are suffering gloomy weather. Hope it brightens up for you soon.

Costas - thank you again :D

Keith - thank you - hopefully you'll get to see the poppies pretty soon (and hope they'll hang around for a bit).

Hi Paul, the young Thrush was a lovely find and he didn't seem that nervous either - yet! I'm just lucky with the darters - I managed to just keep clicking away till I got something!!

Brilliant shots of the dragon in flight. I also love to see your lizard shots as I have never seen one in the wild.
