My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Rome... we arrived in an amazing city!

Our flight out was at 6.15 a.m. - so at silly o'clock we were off to the airport.  When you know you've got limited sleep - you hardly sleep.

Flight took off on time and was a good one.  Magnificent views of the Alps as we flew over - such dramatic scenery.  And up there above the cloud level the sky was blue and the sun was shining... such a great change from what we'd left behind.

Pete had the window seat so managed some pics from the plane - just a couple below of the alps... and.

our first view of ROME!!

Flight arrived early!!  We got the bus to the Termini and then, with Pete's map reading, we arrived at the hotel and checked in at midday.  Cases dumped we headed off into the city.

We were staying near the Coliseum so that you may see a few pics of over the next few blogs.

To start off then - just wandering through the City!

The first view of the Coliseum as we walked down into the town

Rather relaxed Roman guards!

Street entertainers... we were to see many of these over the next few days!

Victor Emmanuel Monument

Saw this in a shop window and thought of you OC!!

The Trevi Fountain - was packed with people but later on during the stay we had better views.. to come!

Babingtons Tea Shop looked inviting.. but not at 33 euros for afternoon tea!!

First lifer of the holiday - Hooded Crow (we were to see many of these and they virtually became commonplace)

Poppies in the sun, in March!!

and a couple of gulls!
