Another London Day... :D

Today we had another concert in London. BUT...

It was a simply glorious day... wall-to-wall blue sky and warm sunshine.. is it really 13 November??

We left early (tube engineering works and main line trains all akimbo) and drove to Loughton and tubed it into London from there. Wonderful autumn colours enroute.

Having arrived nice and early we walked to Buckingham Palace having started from Marble Arch. Today was the annual Remembrance Sunday attended by all the Royals, Military and dignitaries et al.

Walking back to Wigmore Hall we passed this monument to the Canadian Forces who came over here during WW2 - my father (who was killed in action in Italy) was one of them... suddenly it hit me all over again

We walked on through the warm sunshine and through the wonderful autumn colours

This building had a very "green" corner; what a wonderful idea.... perhaps others in our capital town could follow suit?

and finally, outside one of the hotels, poppy-red cyclamen shone out joyfully.

The concert performed by the Parker Quartet was enjoyable and we preferred the Debussy String Quartet n G minor to the Haydn String Quartet in C... a lovely performance but didn't quite live up to the concert of the previous week with the Heath Quartet who were much more involved in playing the music and carried the audience along... that was really good stuff!
