Some Churches and Gunby Hall

The sun was shining as we set off for our first church today -  St Peter & St Paul,  at Algarkirk. Lovely church with painted organ pipes - which I find so attractive.

The 2nd Church wasn't available to us - it was closed.  But sheep were safely grazing amongst the graves.

More success at the 3rd Church - St Mary at Old Leake

And then off to Gunby Hall. The Hall itself is very pleasant.. but the gardens are superb. Gunby Hall has links to Tennyson, Darwin and also Vaughan-Williams.... and is the family home of the Massingberd family.

The summer flowers attracted many bees, flying beasties and butterflies. Today we saw Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Peacock, and one I can't identify!

Painted Lady..

Can't identify this flutter... so..

Painted Lady..

After a cuppa, we headed off.  Pete pulled off the road as I need to keep the signal for a phone call, and he spied this amorous pair of Hares... never seen Hares before... they were some distance away in the field.. but great to get a couple of record shots.

Excellent day out and the weather was glorious!!!! Our last meal here tonight.... sadly.

Hi Tricia

Your butterfly looks like a very worn White-letter Hairstreak

Cheers
