My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Cliveden Gardens

We had anticipated that Cliveden Gardens would be the main visit of the day out but, as I posted yesterday, St Giles Church and the Memorial Gardens were so interesting that they had a post of their own.

So, onto Cliveden .... a National Trust property near Maidenhead, Buckinghamshire.

This family of Mallards together with some coots... we very happy at the foot of...

This amazing fountain!

Into the Rose Garden which has only just been completed..

Amazing bell tower!

The House is now a hotel although you can view it by appointment.

We stopped for a drink and a snack.... too early for lunch but a long time since breakfast... A Cheese Scone - which was OK... quite light but not nearly enough cheese for me.

We saw a Red Kite on a couple of occasions and at one time two together;  we think there were about another 6 or so but they were so high up difficult to be certain.

The rear view of the Chapel..

And down down down the steps to the River Thames below..

and the ascent.. but we came back a different way!..

and from the River Thames, we climbed, and climbed, up the road passing several of these flowers on the way...

The Water Gardens...

Entrance to the children's play area...

and after lunch we walked through the Long Garden....

Sadly the flower-bed plantings had suffered a disease... and the second attempt of Gazanias went the same way... so everything was been cleared out and treated ready for another planting..

A small copper...

Comma..

And our journey ended where it started back at the fountain.

A very pleasant time at a new venue....... and the weather was kind as well :)
