RHS Wisley... an early visit

Quite a lot on over the next few days so wanted to nip down to Wisley as early as possible and before everyone else got there. The advantage of the weekend is that is open half-an-hour earlier than during the week. And...

the sun was shining.

As I got out of the car, I was seranaded by this robin

who looked at me quite disapprovingly - obviously didn't like its song being interrupted for a picture

so it ignored me and carried on.

Heard a chiff chaff and watched whilst this Jay and a Thrust had a real ding-dong argument. Pity the Jay then hid in the tree.

I'd walked along the river to the bird hide in the hopes of seeing Kingfishers. But they were not playing ball today and no sight of sound of them

However, on the way back, the wren flew out in front of me and perched on a fence post. I hadn't really got the camera set up properly for the shot but couldn't resist the opportunity.

Everywhere, it seemed, were there Chiff Chaffs and Blackcaps singing - but only got a glimpse of a Blackcap hiding deep in the bushes.

A female mallard was having a doze..

And all around the garden everything was bursting into bloom.

A bit of colour then as you wander around the gardens - these pictures will, I hope, make a change from the snow that OC is having...

A new type of bird scarer..

But judging by the two Egyptian Geese and 3 Mallards on the opposite bank, I don't think it's working.

By 11.00 it was getting packed with people so it was time to head off for some food shopping.

A very pleasant wander in some amazing spring sunshine and colour.
