My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Ambling....

For one reason or another, today wasn't quite as planned; some of which caused by the fact of my not feeling at all well from about 3.00 a.m. this morning. However, as the day grew older I felt better so, being so very pleased that Hampton Court Flower Show is now over and traffic is back to normal, I decided to have an amble around local patch Bushey Park. No particular agenda, and certainly no sun, so just followed where my nose led me. It seemed to be a day mostly about....

Subtle Colour of the Fallow Buck...

The black and white starkness of
The Arethusa 'Diana' Fountain
This magnificent 17th century fountain was the centrepiece of Sir Christopher Wren's grand approach to Hampton Court Palace. The design is in part attributed to Inigo Jones and is referred to locally as the 'Diana' Fountain. The fountain is actually believed to represent the Goddess's nymph, Arethusa, but there is still much debate to be had upon what is its most appropriate name. Recognised by English Heritage as one of the most important groups of sculpture in Britain, the fountain is adorned by a unique collection of bronzes by French royal sculptor Hubert Le Sueur. Work on the fountain will repair the stonework, pipework and the bronze statuary and ultimately bring the fountain back into full operation.

The inevitable (for Bushey Park) Grey Heron...

and the smaller Pied Wagtail (of which there were several)

Green Gunnera...

Water and reflections....
