The Belvedere and Gardens and Churches

And today, our first full day.. we had a very early breakfast (amazing buffet selection!!) before heading off.

We started with a visit to - yep - the Stephansdom...

Apparently we shouldn't have been in the church as it was before the official 'opening time' - so we were chased out..

and then into the Stadtspark

Anyone for a Waltz by Strauss..

 Ludwig von Beethoven

Absolutely no idea what this is !!

The Fountain of Hochstrahlbrunnen -  a monument commemorating the Red  Army's liberation of the city of Vienna

The Belvedere and Gardens

Odd - a tree covered in nails!

Scarce Swallowtail - we saw 3 of these

and a very young Redstart!

The Musikverein - where the famous Vienna New's Years Day concerts are performed

Johann S. Brahms..

The Karlskirche... which is undergoing restoration

and a Henry Moore sculpture!

The Karlskirche - the interiero.. we went right to the top!!

The Vienna State Opera House... more of that on our last day!

We went back to the hotel for a while.. I wasn't feeling that good before we headed out again.

An Apple strudel was called for....

Sadly I developed the headache of all headaches and felt deicdedly unwell.  We went out to get some sandwiches which were wildly unexciting.  Pete very nobly wouldn't go out and I have to admit I was very well looked after - thank you so much Pete for giving up your evening!! xx
