Checking on the Cygnets

What a change in the weather. This morning I was woken by a flash of lightening followed by rumbling thunder! And then the rain began.....

I needed to do some food shopping but before that I headed off for a quick trip around Bushy Park - was curious to see if the eight cygnets were still around.

Well they were!! Mum was being very protective still even though the Cygnets are growing up fast. They're losing some of the cute look and have a sleeker appearance now.

There was a lot of neck stretching by Mum - I think she was drinking.

And where was Dad? Certainly not with the family. Well he was much much further away and having a wash and brush up. Quite happy on his own. He must feel that his family don't need the constant attentive protection he's been offering recently.

I'm gradually sorting out the pictures of my holiday and hope to update the relevant days before too long.

Typical me - I slept thro' the rumbles. Good to see that the young Cygnets are growing up fast.

Those cygnets have certainly grown. You can see the longer necks on them now. Still a bit of awww factor left in them :)
Love the neck stretching photos.

Thanks OC - its good to know that they're still OK. Hopefully now they're big enough to be reasonably safe!
