Polesden Lacey in the mist.....

Met a friend today at Polesden Lacey... it was very misty and murky.  When we arrived, we realised there was an event on - a Donkey Derby... however...

we wander through the woods avoiding the most populated areas... signs of Autumn were about.

Lunch time and I decided on a cream tea.  The fruit scone was wonderfully crumbly but difficult to spread the rather flaky cream.  However, I managed to give it a stir and it became far more manageable!

Finally, we had some sunshine and sat on a seat in the sun.... lovely :D

NT Nymans Gardens... in pretty poor light but...

Had a visit to Nymans today... very warm and humid.  I know I've posted several pictures before of a much visited gardens, so tried a few different angles today.

Called in at Warnham LNR on the way home... but very quiet so no pics today.  Just one lone young Great Crested Grebe... don't know where the parent was....

Preening at Warnham

Just a quick visit to Warnham today.. very quiet in the very warm afternoon sun - it was a welcome change to get the temperatures back up again...

However the first two pics I took at Rye Meads at the weekend.  The Mallard is balanced precariously on the post mostly used by the Kingfishers.

And a posing Red Admiral.

Today, as I arrived at Warnham, a robin was having a preen by the side of the pool

And in the feeder area, a female Pheasant was having a dust bath.

I walked on to the Heron Hide.  A few Herons about and a couple of buzzards flying high and calling.  It seems that there's only 1 young Great Crested Grebe now with one adult.  The adult pair and three young, it is felt, have now flown onto pastures new.... I wish them well.
