Wimpole Hall.... not quite Autumn... yet!

Went on a visit to Wimpole Hall again today... it's a pleasant garden, an attractive house and extensive parkland.

As I arrived, a pied Wagtail sang from the rooftops.

I started by walking down to the lake with the Folly in the distance.

Sheep and cattle grazed or just chewed the cud..

Dozens of Greylag geese..

Given the time of year, there were many 'corn dollies'.. in the chapel

a dog!

and someone had been very inventive... sheep with sheep wool!

and dotted about were tiny mice :D

This potato had spar

a pencilled-in eye and a swan's head and neck appears....

A few birds at Rye Meads...

In anticipation of a musical weekend, I headed up the motorways (only stopped once to pay the toll on the M25!!!!!) and arrived at Rye Meads.  Was told on arrival that crows had sent the lapwings and Snipe up... the latter have gone off in two groups and didn't return whilst I was there...

So rather quiet..

Acorns - halved..

Red Berries - beamed...

Cygnets - lazed..

Mute swan - bent kneck..

Shoveller - paused from shovelling

Swans - bathed..

and it was gloriously warm for an October day... jeans and a t-shirt!!!

A Weekend in Norfolk - on the way home.

Woke early and had a walk around the grounds where we were staying.  The house was beautiful and we felt as though we were at a National Trust property.

The view from the windows was across the field and immediately outside the house were four cows..

Early morning in Bagthorpe.. the house was wonderful... just like staying in a stately home :)

After an excellent brekkie we headed off to meet Corinna, Cheryl and Trev at WWT Welney whee the highlight of the day was a :Pectoral Sandpiper

and then sadly, after some lunch we headed off for home.
