Shoreham - the Adur Ferry Bridge..... and a dedication

I went over to Shoreham today to do some shopping.  There's a (relatively) new footbridge over the River Arun which has always attracted me to walk along it.  So, today I decided to do just that.

The Adur Ferry Footbridge opened on 13 November 2013 and was opened official by the Duke of Gloucester

The views are north and south of the bridge and I realised that one of the views had in it the A27 - the spot where the Hawker Hunter plane (part of the Shoreham air show) came down on that fateful day.  It's a road I've driven along many times and, in fact, did so only 24 hours before the plane came down.

With something so unexpected and dramatic as this, it's hard not to be moved by the tragedy that affected so many total strangers.

So, this blog is dedicated to all those involved, not only on the day, but those who are still working on the site still since 22nd August 2015.  Obviously all the victims  are remembered together with their families and friends... but, additionally, to all those of the emergency services and all other services who have had to play a part in this tragedy.... thank you!!

A Cormorant.. and there it was.. gone diving deep!

Looking towards the A27..

Off to other fishing sites...

There was only one bridge when I visited in 2011 on a chilly November day. The Adur reserve was pretty lifeless. the houseboats are wonderful however.
