My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Standen.. dressed for Christmas as in 1931

Off I went to Standen House today.. It's a small but very 'homely' house and is an Arts & Crafts family home with William Morris interiors - and today for a few weeks, it is decorated for Christmas as in 1931 when the 84-year old Margaret Beale lived there with her two unmarried daughters, Maggie and Helen.

This room was depicted as a "modern Christmas".. think I prefer the traditional..

in the servants quarters and kitchen

Then off to the cafe for a scone for lunch.. I went early and even by then the cafe was getting crowded..

The annual Christmas Tree.. this time decorated by cross-stitched decorations by Mr X Stitch

and finally, the sun came out.. so a wander around the grounds.

In the Bothy..

The quarry is currently closed as a result of a recent rock fall - it's currently awaiting the safety all clear before re-opening.

These look like daffodils!?!

Lovely visit and wonderful to have some cheery sun!
