Peacocks

Various commitments today, ending with a visit to J's school for an "end of term" presentation. He was good and, IMHO better than most of his peers but, I'm biased of course :)

No time to get out today and the local traffic was ******* (best not to comment really).

Having commented recently on a fellow blogger's blog that my Buddleia (Buddleja davidii Black Knight) attracted more bees than butterflies, look what I had visiting today - and two of them no less!

A couple of peacocks

On the basis that when I've said previously "I haven't seen...." on some occasions I've then seen very shortly afterwards, the said subject of "I haven't seen" so.......

I haven't seen:
A Golden Eagle (or any sort of eagle)
A Red Kite
An Eider (in the wild) and plenty more.....

Well - one can dream :D

I love peacock butterflies. I remember seeing one or two when I was about 9 or 10 and then not seeing another until in my 40s. Still hoping to get one in my garden.

Lovely pictures of your peacocks. They do seem to be attracted to Buddleia. I usually get a few each year, but none noticed so far this year. (see if it works for me1)

Lovely Peacocks, I too have that Buddleia, but so far this time it doesn't seem very popular, of course the weather isn't very conducive at the moment so I'll keep hoping.

I really must invest in one of these shrubs.. I noticed one this week in a garden and it was covered in bees and a number of white butterflies.
I hope you manage to fullful your dreams.... Jane and I was very lucky 2 years ago by coming across a young Red Kite eating the afterbirth from a sheep... the young lamb was stood near by bleating but the Kite paid it no attention at all... When it took the the air it really looked as good as I had heard... A truely rare sighting around here and one I will never forget.
Today my blogs show Road Names and Grandchildren Play
Have a great weekend
Tom

Tricia, you must have a trip up here. I love to see the faces of visitors from the south when they see our Eiders coming to chips being thrown from our harbour walls! They are one of the commonest ducks up here and you can watch them down to a few feet...They have ducklings at the minute, but the drakes have gone all moulting. They look much better in winter...
We had a pair of Golden Eagles too in Northumberland until afew years back but the adults may have died of old age. They were in the same spot for twenty or more years!

Beautiful.

And I haven't seen a golden eagle either.

Haven't seen a water rail, bearded tit, crested tit or brambling either.

And sod it, neither have I seen a hoopoe!

We all should have dreams....
I love the peacock butterfly so bright and cheerful...

I saw a tawny owl in my garden one evening last week. I was in the kitchen. It was dusk. She was sitting on the grandchildrens climbing frame.....as I watched she swooped down and took a mouse....amazing.....
