Down into Cornwall... Cotehele

The weather guru's (aka BBC weather people) promised a good day weather-wise for Saturday and it was!! Started off a bit shakily but gradually the sun lost its shyness and dullness gave way to blue blue skies and warm sunshine.... lovely!

We set off to cross the Tamar Bridge into Cornwall (in 1961 it was the longest suspension bridge in the UK).. En route we passed signs to Devonport and the Naval Base. This evoked some memories as, what seems like decades ago (and was!), I was in the Womens' Royal Naval Reserve (WRNR) and every year we had a period of compulsory training... mine always being at the naval base, HMS Drake in Devonport.

We were off to visit Cotehele near Saltash.

We started off having a wander around the old quay..

before setting off to tour the gardens...

and house...

and back out into the sunshine again... these are the Terraces..

which look out over this wonderful valley that, seemingly, goes on forever. We didn't take the valley path as time was getting on... but it looked very tempting.

Another really lovely day....(with no cake!! but we had a "Cornish" cheese tea of cheese scones and cheese.... ) I'm not getting on the scales for a few weeks....
