Ostuni,Olive Oil Tasting & production & Cisternino

The day started with a visit to Ostuni... but on the way we stopped to see some of the very ancient Olive Trees.. majority are 700 -800 years old but others in excess of 1,000 years old..  this is one of them!

and we arrived in Ostuni

and walked up the hill to the Basilica Concattedrale

but before I went in... a few views and a welcome cup of coffee

It was quite a plain interior compared to many Italian churches...but it is a small town

Ponders joined us for coffee

and after lunch, we headed off to a company where Olives are processed on a major scale ... a where Olives are processed into oil..An interesting talk... this company ships all around the world..only sells their wine direct to customers and also processes the olives of about 5,000 farmers for the farmers own use!

This is the  traditional method which takes about 4 hours

As opposed to the more modern method that takes about 45 minutes!!

Two mice and a lion... sought the shade in the strong sun

whiles Burano tried out cycling

and then on for an unscheduled stop at the pretty town of Cisternino

Another great day out..tomorrow just the one venue and a meal out in the evening
