Rock Pipit ?

Had a very quick 10 minute walk down to the beach this afteroon; was getting late and the light was going but was delighted to notice this wee birdie sitting on a rock. Consensus opinion is that it's a Rock Pipit....

Hmmm. I would say a Meadow Pipit Tricia. I'm certainly no expert, but the leg colour looks too light for a Rock Pipit.
One for the experts to decide on I think lol
Good shot though.

Pretty certain from the photo its a meadow pipit. Pale legs and yellow bill diagnostic, as are flank streaks of same "weight" as chest. Rock pips have black legs and bill, though in winter, there are rock pipits which can look less dark and some confusion is possible. No matter a wonderful bird.

Keith.. thank you - always get confused with Pipits.

Hi Andrew and good to see you here again...think it's looking like a Meadow Pipit and I see what you (and Keith) mean about the leg colour - perhaps I just want it to be a Rock Pipit ;)

A pretty little bird and a nice composition whatever it is Tricia.

Meadow Pipit Tricia, although you could be forgiven for thinking Rock as its on the shoreline which is the Rock's habitat.

Damn confusing these avian sorts.{:)
