Warnham and Pulborough.... a bit birdless....

Having finally moved into my new home last week and discovered Fieldfares and Redwings (from the garden), together with garden visitors of Robin, Dunnock, Blue Tit, Greenfinch, Goldfinch and Blackbirds and the occasional Collared Dove, I decided I needed a break from unpacking endless boxes (where did it all come from??) and headed out today to Warnham Nature Reserve.

Around the feeders it was quite busy; a Bittern had been seen during the week but despite several attempts by volunteers to find it, it had not been seen for the last two days.. of course it knew I would come to visit and had scarpered!

What was great was that several of the trees near the visitor centre played hosts to flocks of chirping Siskins... lovely :D

But could only get a shot of them (dreadful light today...) when they came to the feeders near the first hide.

Nuthatch... very regular visitors and it's more likely you'll see them here than not.
and same with the Reed Bunting
A Dunnock sang from a lofty branch

As nothing much was doing I headed over to Pulborough Brooks... where had all the birds gone!  Not even a Canada Goose.  A flurry of crows went up and a Fieldfare was in amongst them but that was about it.. it was also threatening rain.

This herd of cows munched regardless....

And on the way out, a Pied Wagtail amongst the regulars at the feeders

And with that I headed home.  Warnham Nature Reserve and Pulborough Brooks are now my local patches... both about the same distance away.. albeit in opposite directions :D

Glad to hear you're finding your way to the local birdy spots. I hope you get settled soon. Those boxes seem never-ending at first, but you'll soon see your floor again.

By the way, I'm having to use the name/URL method of leaving a comment, as if I use my blog details I keep getting a message that I haven't entered the words correctly. I believe this is a widespread issue.

The wagtail and the cow are wearing matching coats, Tricia. ;-)

Sounds like you've got a couple of great 'locals' Tricia.

I'm glad you've finally moved in Tricia. Good luck with the boxes! Look forward to reading more about your two new local patches.
