Spring has sprung... and bees abound

I met a friend of mine for a walk and lunch today - we decided to meet at Nyman's Gardens.. and what a wonderful Spring day it turned out to be!!

We walked around the more formal part of the gardens before having lunch... sardines on toast for me and Carrot and Corriander soup for my friend.

The spring flowers were wonderful and the air was perfumed with "spring"

Camellia's were in bloom in many places...

as were the Magnolias - some more advanced than others..

and bees abounded..

this is a new species of headless Long-tailed tit... it moved just at the wrong time...pity otherwise it might have been a good shot ;)

Spring-flowering heather..

Witch hazel...

There were 4 beehives over in the woodland and wildlife area across the road from the main part of the gardens.  Three of them had chain link fencing around them... I don't know why, but it made taking pictures rather challenging.  All four hives were very busy and some of the bees had so much pollen on their legs I was surprised they could still fly!

Primula denticulata.... and very lovely it was :D

Then a cuppa with a piece of cake each before going our separate ways.... Thanks for a great day Isa.... :D

Bees and flowers, oh my, you're doing my head in. We're still covered in the white stuff. Great shots.

I'm thinking the fence around the hives is to protect them from the birds. Just a guess.
