Today the weather was.... glorious!!! Warm sunshine and blue skies.. butterflies and insects were about! Great stuff!
We headed off for Sissinghurst Castle this morning but stopped en route for the parish church at Lydd, All Saints. This is a church that has a special meaning for a friend of ours, Jan M.
Then on to Sissinghurst Castle.. somewhere I haven't been for many years!
We climbed to the top of the tower and had wonderful views!!
We had some lunch before leaving Sissinghurst.. very pleasant. The plan was to revist Scotney Castle where rain had 'stopped play' earlier in the week. We arrived.. we viewed the 'closed' sign'.. we replanned. OK.. let's go to a local vineyard. We arrived, there was no shop selling wine although there were many vines there.. hey ho. So Pete said 'I'll know where to go' we headed off, me still in the dark regarding the surprise destination which was to be Pashley Manor - woo hoo, somewhere I'd not been but always wanted to visit.
There were some marvellous sculptures around the garden and the placing of them was so well thought out and appropriate.. so lovely to look at - some very talented sculptors!!
Entrance to the tea rooms where we stopped later for a cuppa and some cake! Victoria Sponge and Lemon Drizzle... very nice!!
And we stopped finally for a drink and some cake (see above)...
A really great day in the best weather yet .. and tomorrow... well homeward bound..

Thanks for the Lydd visit, I would love to get down there myself sometime and see nan's grave. The bungalow she lived in and we used to visit is only about 100 yards from the church (if it's still there...)
I have really enjoyed all the photos of the lovely places you have visited on your holiday.
Sissinghurst looks beautiful - one of those places I would love to visit.
I like the sculptures at Pashley Manor especially the one with ammonites :)
Hi Tricia, I'm another Jan M :-)
What a wonderful time you and Pete had and you took lots of lovely photos. I most particularly enjoyed seeing Pashley Manor! The sculptures are stunning, really breathtaking, I would love to go there.
Never been to either place, and both look to be well worth a visit. The gardens are lovely, and I love those sculptures.
