Anglesey Abbey.an unusual Bee..a Bank Holiday... and rain!

Yesterday the weather wasn't too bad whilst we sat indoors listening to some excellent music.  Today?  A different matter altogether.  Rain, rain and more, you guessed it, rain.

After some basic shopping we headed off to Anglesey Abbey, where we indulged in a cuppa and some excellent cake.

A walk about the gardens produced some much needed colour in the flowers of the herbaceous borders.

The majority of the time, we didn't get too wet but as the morning wore on, some soup in the cafe was very welcome.

Anyone know what sort of bee (?) this is?
ID needed please

Strange markings over the 'shoulders'

And this weekend, Great Britain celebrates the Jubilee of the Queen's 60-year long reign.   and I feel so sorry for all those who have worked so hard to arrange street parties and other celebratory activities this weekend; the weather is appalling and I fear their hard work may have gone to waste..but I'm sure it won't daunt the 'bulldog' spirit....
