Bushy Park and Hampton Court Palace Gardens

As it promised to be a great and sunny day today I headed off to old haunts - Bushy Park was my initial stop.  The sun had some warmth and I got there before most of the usual Sunday family visitors arrived!

Bread was being thrown for the birds so I took full advantage

(first 2 pics taken with Nikon V1, 30-110 mm lens)

Other wildlife

and a wander around the pond... Today there were some Gadwall, Shovellers and one Little Grebe.. never seen either of the last two species at Bushy before... but I didn't have the dSLR with me today so no pics.

I then headed off through the Park to visit Hampton Court Gardens.  The formal gardens are free entry after the end of October.

A family of Mute Swans entertained me...

and a Black-headed Gull practiced standing on one leg!

and the formal gardens of Hampton Court..

and finally, back out through the 'wilder' part

a walk back through Bushy Park to the car - and a quick lunch of a Hot Dog from the kiosk in the car park before driving back home!  Pity this weather isn't going to last .. but today was great!

I particularly like the first two pictures. Can't really say why except they gave me a good feeling. Maybe is all the life there. I love that gate or is it part of a fence. Whatever it is, I wouldn't refuse it if offered, lol.

Mother of pearls! What an active day full of birds! I love the second shot especially. Great capture. And the two swans are a treat:)
