After a few hols in Italy, Vienna was going to be a change. We set off for Gatwick and had an uneventful journey to Vienna. Having taken a taxi to the hotel, we unpacked and set off for a wander around the town and in search of an evening meal.
This is the Stephansdom... which will feature more on other days!
and more general street scenes..
The State Opera House... again more on a later post.
Everywhere, costumed 'gents' were selling concert tickets for the Opera House..
and where to eat on our first (and several other) nights.... the Cafe Mozart - great food!
Our waiter on more than one occasion, was Gerald..
We chose Gruner Veltliner - our decision helped by Gerald.. of which we both approved..
Beautifully cooked and very tasty lamp with roasted vegetables....
and Pete's great idea for pud... a shared dish of three little cakes... we couldn't manage the full size :)
Choccies and sweeties
This is the oldest cafe in Vienna...
and I rather liked the look of this little teddy.. a few shops in Vienna selling bears, including the famous Stieff
And so, back to the hotel - a really good day (albeit just half a day after landing).....
Sick as....
