Where to today? Let's to to Norfolk birding said I. Off we went.. Got to Walker's for the usual sausage, bacon & egg rolls and a cuppa.. and as we got out of the car we realised just how cold it was - biting wind.
However, replenished with brekkie and a cuppa we headed up north.
First stop, we managed two Wheatears and a Corn Bunting.. an often-visited spot by us but very bird light today. The on, to Titchwell. We were greeted with Robbie the Robin in the car park - he was in fine voice!
as was this Chaffinch.
A moorhen tucked up on her nest down near the stream..
Saw Marsh Harrier hunting, Bar-tailed & Black-tailed Godwits, a Ruff, lots of Avocets, and all the usual culprits..
Given the icy wind and we really weren't dressed for the unexpected cold, we decided not to go down to the beach and headed off.
and on the way out.. again a singing robin entertained us.
So, as the day was still relatively young, we decided on a visit to Oxburgh Hall. Bought some food enroute and had a pincic in the car... which was wonderfully warm inside :D and the off we went to Oxburgh
We didn't go round the inside of the hall, but elected for a wander through the woods, which was nicely sheltered from the cold wind.
AND then, we were lucky enough to see a Marsh Tit!! first one for a long time for me, and another tick for my year list!
(record shots only)
A lovely day out with a good walk through the woods and plenty of fresh air down near the beach! :)
