West Dean Gardens... and a Moth :)

Where to today?  The sun was shining although it was a bit chilly for an August day.  I headed off to West Dean Gardens for a wander.

On the way in... pears growing against the wall.

Normally when I'm somewhere local I don't usually stop in the cafe.  Today I felt like a cuppa by the time I got there... and on the counter in front of me.... ooooooh - scones.  I couldn't resist a fruit scone with some jam... and excellent it was too.. very light and still warm from cooking.

So now I needed to walk!!

Love the seed heads of this clematis..

Whilst I was busy taking pics of this very large bee, I notice fast movement.. woo hoo a Hummingbird Hawkmoth... haven't seen one for a very long time....

Record shots only but really pleased to get them - they're pretty fast!!

West Dean recently had its Chilli Festival... amazing number of them on display.. just a couple of them here..

Out in the kitchen garden.

On the way, I stopped at the viewpoint at the top of Duncton Hill.  The light was better today than most days when I pass this way!

An enjoyable time well spent :)
