Tower of London Poppies and some music at Wigmore Hall....

Off to Wigmore Hall today so where to first?  I wanted to see and photograph the Poppies at the Tower of London..  They will be there only till Armistice day and then removed.  They will then be on sale..  I have ordered one in remembrance of my father who was killed in action in 1943 - the money will go to various charities.

At Liverpool Street station....

and then wandering to the Tower..

Rather a few pics of the poppies but given it's a 'once off' occasion..... pity the sun was in the wrong position!

On the way we came across the Tower Hill Memorial in Trinity Square Gardens, memorial to the Merchant navy..

and then to Wigmore Hall.  Today's concert was the Cuarteto Casals.. a talented group -  although today Abel Thomas was replaced by Meesun Hong Coleman on the violin.

The Music?

Mozart - Adagio and Fugue in C minor K546

Haydn - String Quartet in C p. 20 No 2

Beethoven - String Quartet in Eb Op. 74 'Harp'

All excellent pieces beautifully played but the Mozart, and in particular, Haydn were my favourites...

Another good day out... in fact, a great weekend altogether :)

The poppy display looked beautiful, especially the 'poppyfall'.

It really is an amazing sight, John. I'd seen pictures of it but to see it for 'real' really brought home the magnitude of numbers of those who lost their lives !!
