Wasn't sure what to do today - it was grey, dull and very very windy. My 'local' NT gardens were closed due to high winds and I didn't want to go to far given the weather... so I headed off for Sheffield Park.
Didn't take many shots of views... bit too dull....
Mr Ponders seemed to be have a 'tree' day today...
A very many Mallards on the lakes... in total at one point I counted about 52!! Mr Ponders was delighted!!
Camellias were in bloom..
Oh look, another tree!
and again, he found some seats..
There was a cygnet with these two adult Mute Swans. Regrettably it was considerably injured in one leg and could hardly stay standing. If fact it then fell down and couldn't get up. The two adults, using their beaks and weight, then pushed the cygnet into the water.
I reported the injured bird to a volunteer on my way out and wasn't the first to do so. Apparently it wasn't the cygnet of the two adults... hope it will be rescued!!
More Mallards ..
Stopped in the cafe for a 'sconch' - fruity scone very nice!!
Then home... pleasant stroll.... apart from the weather!!...
