My blog is mostly about wildlife, particularly birds, walking, days out, all growing things and anything else that comes to mind.

Arundel Castle.. an impromptu visit

Not feeling 100% today, but needed to get some fresh air.  Was going to visit Arundel WWT but the sun was shining (rain threatened for later in the day) and given I'd become aware of tulips in bloom at Arundel Castle that's where I went.. and was well rewarded.

When I arrived the sky was blue and the sun was shining.. was a bit chilly but somehow it didn't matter..

The Entrance

and lovely colour at the payment kiosk..

The Castle..

oh look.. a sundial which Mr Ponder and Billie (who couldn't believe he was having a day out again) had to pose for a picture

The Fitzalan Chapel ...

with its White Garden..

On the way to the garden, I stopped for a look in the Fitzalan Chapel

and then on to the Collectors Earl's Garden.. a new garden based on early 17th Century classical designs

The Potager / Organic Kitchen Garden

The Thatched Round House in the wild flower garden... this area to encourage wildlife, butterlfies bees and other beneficial insects..

and a walk around the Stumpery...

The living willow arch ..

the maze...

Lovely wander - more for the 'spur of the moment' decision to visit.
