This post precedes that of the second "Deer hunt" saga but I had to mention that today I had a Green Woodpecker visiting my garden again.
I'd been out for most of the morning and was having a late sandwich when he first appeared. I eventually managed to get a picture. Then about half an hour later he returned. The part of the garden he visits, still has evidence of ants so I'm hoping he'll be back again.

Great photos of a very interesting bird - which of course we don't have.
What a fantastic capture Tricia! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it finds lots and lots and lots more ants in your garden and will return many times.
Did you recognised him as the same bird that visited last winter? LOL
envy- i'm suffering now, with it.
Mick - that's what makes "swapping" birds on blogs so interesting internationally. :)
Oh ST - sorry you've gone the same colour as the birdy!!
Carin - thanks; I'll let you know if it works! Don't know if its the same one as I seem to hear or see them all year round and difficult to distinguish one from the other!
Love the pictures,
"If only they would come west....
Ocean - they're quite common in England, Wales and Southern Scotland but not seen in Northern Scotland or Ireland. Although not many people see them in their gardens. So - I'm very lucky but I have got the right habitat for them.
