Sunny at London Wetland Centre.

I had a spur of the moment visit to Barnes today and met up with a friend.

It was glorious weather and I was in a lightweight jumper and.... NO JACKET!! Woo hoo. Oh what a difference to feel really warm in the Spring sunshine.

A (male ?) Kestrel sat high up in a distant tree... it too seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.

Groups of Starlings sat chattering amongst the branches of the trees.. the sunlight really bringing out their wonderful colours.

Around the other side, the Goldcrests were about and also views of a Firecrest.... the latter not seen by us of course.

Whilst a couple of us scanned the conifers, Hugh saw a Goldcrest perched elsewhere; it showed quite well so I shouldn't really grumble about the twig cutting across its body.

In the "collection" Mr and Mrs Wood Duck enjoyed the sun.

As did this pair of Mute Swans

Some were more active..

And the Spring flowers are adding some very welcome colour after the drabness of winter
Snakeshead Frittilaries

Buds bursting open

This look like Anemones in miniature

and... my first Peacock Butterfly of the season.

Oh I do hope this is going to last!!

I really like the first starling picture, and those flowers....I'm so anxious to see some here.

Yay, no jacket! Isn't it the greatest feeling to finally shed winter's garments, and by the looks of it, the flora and fauna agree! Love all the photos ~ wood ducks and swans together look amazing, plus the one in flight ~ hope you have many days of sunshine coming your way!

Looks like it was a wonderful day - so many great sightings! That fritillary is sure a gorgeous flower. And lucky you to get a butterfly photo already:-)
