We were off a crack of dawn to Gatwick Airport... the plane was delayed by Air Traffic control by nearly an hour... we arrived at Seville Airport in grey skies and it had been raining..
We got a taxi from the airport to hotel, checked in, unpacked the cameras and headed off. As we stepped outside the hotel, the scent of Orange Blossom was wonderful... orange trees all over the city.. a heady perfume all day and every day it was to seem...
It was quite cool to start with and I had a light waterproof...
We started off walking along the river..
Figs I think
The colour of flowers.. to be seen everywhere..
Wisteria in abundance.. we were to see much more as the week progressed..
and into the Parque Maria de Luisa... probably my favourite public garden of all countries..
Lots of ducklings..
and everywhere... pottery and glazed tiles of Spain..
Dozens of these trees with masses of flowers (just can't remember what they're called)
and then over to government offices the Plaza Espana - fancy working in this environment?
Dozens of horse-drawn carriages..
A wonderful first day and great introduction to Seville.. the clouds disappeared and the sun came out, the sky was blue... and this is how it was to be ..
Finally, back to the hotel for a meal.. and finally, somewhat tired, we called it a day... it had been a long but beautiful day..
