However... nothing ventured... and we stopped for breakfast at Walkers Cafe... yum yum!
Our next port of call was St Micheal and All Angels Church at Barton Turf. Pete had attempted to see this church before but not found it open. As we got out of the car, we looked over at the field and saw approx. 20 Fieldfare.... lovely However, today it was... on a time lock.. how sensible.
Quite a plain church by comparison with some, but a good one nonetheless.
And from there, off to Blickling Estate.
By now we were in need of a cuppa... and of course, a fruit scone. We had to wait for them to come out of the oven... which wasn't a problem at all... it was a very tasty scone but could have done with a little more time in the oven...
and off for a wander.
As we were walking away from the Orangery, we heard a Tawny Owl close by.. no sighting of it however...
and the Snowdrops and Hellebores here were amazing....
and Robins everywhere it seemed... the birdsong was delightful ...
and a tour of the house which was open for the first time today after its winter closure
and before driving off home, a good lunch of Potato and Parsnip Soup and a cheese scone... the scone not being one of Blicklings best.. need a bit more cheese and a little on the dry side.
and it was Pete's turn to drive... being driven in your own car is always an odd sensation.. :)
A lovely day out...
