Went today as the sun was shining, and won't have the opportunity to get there in the next week or so
Bluebells there definitely were.. but they need a week or so to be really at their best.
The sunshine was glorious and out of the easterly wind, temperatures were lovely.
Never get tired of this view..
and Mr Ponders rather likes it too..
Birds abounded and wrens everywhere.. this one just wouldn't pose!
and in the woods.. bluebells and yes.. it really is steep but worth every step :)
Hmmm... Ponders concluded this was not his abode.. but was that of a smaller distant relative..
The two resident geese have produced 4 youngsters.
This is the most amazing seat..
and Mr Ponders agreed.
and I was starving.. so broke the mid-week no scone rule and indulged.. but given the very high standard of Winkworth's scones.. it would have been rude not too..
As I sat and ate my 'lunch' this was my view.. :)

Know exactly what you mean Simon.. I have to confess I did sit in the seat and surveyed the view from there.. felt rather grand :)
I agree with Simon. Always great to come across the unexpected wood carving.
Hi John.. the National Trust seem to have a few carvings now over some of their properties.. at Nymans Gardens along one of the longer walks, there is a marvellous kingfisher and also a group of owls .. these carved in a damaged tree which is still standing..
