I've often passed a sign to the
Roman Villa at Bignor and a couple of days ago, I decided to go visit. It's a small exhibition but nonetheless rather interesting. It was discovered in 1811 by a farmer, George Tupper, who hit a large stone when ploughing... and from there, as they say, the rest is history
The view from the ruins
and inside with amazing mosaics..
a small field with a few Cows and their calves
and on the way out.. an obliging Common Whitethroat..

They loved their dolphin mosaics! Wish that was near me, we have a massive villa at Southwell, but only a tiny bit of it on view.
