Warnham LNR in the rain..

Plan A .. required at a minimum dry weather , then it just didn't happen.  Some some essential shopping and then decided to chance the rain and visit Warnham.. the rain had been pretty steady but not too heavy..

As I arrived in the car park I was greeted by a rather bedraggled Robin.

Saw one Great Crested Grebe but I know there are two about..  they've been spotted "weed dancing"..

A very bedraggled looking male Great Spotted Woodpecker

A stand off below the feeders..!!

Female Reed Bunting (edited .... the male appeared not long after then hid ..

Driving this morning I saw a Red Kite and a couple of Buzzards flying.. later, still driving, a perched Kestrel and no long after a perch Buzzard....

Nice to get out for some fresh air.. albeit for a short time.. the heavens then opened!!

Hi Tricia

Just thought that your "female Stonechat" looks more like a Pipit.

Cheers

Hi Maurice and thank you.. I did ask a couple of birders in the hide as I wasn't sure and they said female Stonechat... I wasn't convinced.. still can't make up my mind.. ..

Hi Tricia

I was looking at male and female Stonechats this morning on the New Forest heaths. I am familiar with them. I also see pipits, tree, meadow and occasionally rock. I cannot i.d. pipits and be 100% sure as to the species. But no problem with Stonechats.

Maurice.. my mistake entirely.. for Stonechat read Reed Bunting.. a senior moment I believe!! I've thrown this out for ID on a Sussex birding group who've confirmed Reed Bunting.. my apologies for any confusion and, as ever, I always appreciate and enjoy your comments and help :)

Hi Tricia

Glad that that is cleared up. I have just had a look through my "pipit" images and there are only a few, so it didn't take me very long.

In the process I came across a couple of shots of Reed Buntings and I did have a female shot. I was about to get back to you but you beat me to it.

Thanks again,

Cheers

Maurice
