It was drizzling en route as we set out for a walk along the river at Lostwithial. Waterproofs on we set off for a walk. Even in this damp stuff the river looked lovely. As we went under the bridge at the start of our walk we saw Swallows ducking under the bridge - two nests were use.. we left them to do their job.
Heard wrens, robin and Chaffinch.. House martins flew about. But the hoped for Kingfisher and Dipper were being shy today.. no sightings.
There was no wind at all.. the the river was mirror like...
We saw two families of Mallard Ducklings... this a family of two and the other being a family of 3 .. but they were under the overhanging trees, and far too dark for pictures
We did see a posy Cormorant but too far away for pictures
A visit to St Bartholomews Church in Lostwithiel
The Church is a grade 1 listed building and includes a tower from the 13th century. A century later the spire was added - the spire is buildtof Pentewan stone and the church itself is an outstanding feature of a town this size
We were inside the church as the bells struck midday!!..
We then went onto Wadebridge .. stopped for a sandwich at a very good cafe.. very large sandwiches!!
As we left the cafe. the rain was getting rather intense; we abandoned our prospect walk along the Camel Trail and headed back for a cuppa.
Within a short distance after leaving Jan, I got held up by passing traffic.. and had to wait until the road 'reopened'.. :D ..
A lovely day with excellent company..... despite the wet weather.
