Sudeley Castle & Gardens, and Hailes Abbey

It's been a rather grey today with light rain at times.

I headed off for a return visit to Sudeley Castle.

"Sudeley Castle & Gardens is also the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds; Katherine Parr, the last of Henry VIII's six wives.  Today visitors can explore the beautiful 15th century church where she lies entombed"

A 'metal' fern..

I was fascinated by this.. so clever made of ancient pieces of driftwood and named after Princess Goda, the daughter of King Ethelred the unready, and first owner of the Castle in the early 11th Century

and into St Marys Church

The tomb of Katherine Parr..

and on the way back, a wander around Hailes Abbey which was founded in 1246 by the Earl of Cornwall

 and into Hailes church

A facinating day... albeit a revist.. but very relaxed... a little sunshine and a brighter sky would have been good.. it happened .. as I drove back!!
