Pevensey Castle, St Nicholas Church & Sovereign Harbour

Glorious sunshine albeit bitterly cold!.. There was a snow fully overnight.. locally it lasted about 3 mintues!! shock horror :)

The South Downs showed some signs of this!

I met a friend and we went off to Pevensey Castle.. a Roman fort which is about 803 years old.. even older than me :D ..

This part of the castle ruin, is only open on Saturdays and Sundays at this time of the year.

We then wandered to St Nicholas Church

The spiral staircase which leads up to the bells... they chimed whilst we stood below!!

This is a window of the (now) Museum and what was the Gaol!

We assume that the lower wooden door, was probably the entrance to the gaol.

We then drove over to our 'regular' place for lunch.. Today Leonardo helped me with Tacos, Guacamole with Peppers, Onions and Creme Fraiche.. it was very tasty!!

and given the sky was blue, the sun was shining and, provided you didn't linger for too long, not to bad in the bitter cold.  The sea was still.. no wind at all.

and as we walked.. in the distance.. 2 seals!!  Needless to say I didn't have the right lens with me!

Fabulous day out in excellent company.. thank you xx
