Brekkie on the beach and some birds...

Woke to a very foggy morning with heavy frost everywhere.  Pete was down for the weekend so we set off early for breakfast down on the beach.  Known by many as the '8 day cafe' Sea Lane Cafe had quite a few people in it at 8.30 a.m.  Having driven there through fog, I assured Pete we would have blue skies and sunshine by the time we reached the beach..  we did!

Breakfast was really good and views out over the beach and incoming tide.  From there we drove towards Worthing then left the car and walked along the sea front to the pier.  The sun was warm, the sky blue and the sea was sparkling... no wind either which made for a glorious day!

Lovely stroll along the beach and pier and we then headed west through Ferring.....

before going on to RSPB Pulborough Brooks.

About 3 nuthatches calling as we got out of the car... several birds on the feeders in front of the visitor centre.

During the course of the day we were to see - Peregrine Falcon, Kestrel, Buzzard, a Fox and rabbits, Shelduck, dozens of Teal, Goldcrests, Bullfinches and a lesser Redpoll.   We'd hoped for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at Pulborough but not today.. and no-one had seen it by the time we left. (We've since heard one was seen in the car park.. at about the time we were driving away - hey ho)

Believe or not, this is a Nuthatch

A good day in glorious sunshine!

One could be forgiven for thinking it was a sunny Summer's day in the first part of the post Tricia. Lovely photos as always. I especially like the Jay.

The beach looks a great place for an early morning walk Tricia. It reminds me of Eastbourne.

Hi Jan..we were lucky with the Jay... it stood still! always an advantage. The the sun was glorious!

Roy - I know what you mean; both Worthing and Eastbourne have a similar feel to them whilst be very different!
