Nightingales singing and Whitethoats calling...

It really has been the most glorious of days!!

Up and out early to Pulborough Brooks.  But before I even reached there, I saw some Swallow perched up on the telephone wire - Sainsbury's car park was conveniently close by.

As I started out at Pulborough the song of Nightingales was wonderful.  Seven have been report on the site and other birders had seen 4 at one time today.  Two or three (I think) Whitethroats about and several Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs.  The leaves are only just beginning to sprout on the trees but the birds, for the most part, were well hidden.

Just a taste then:

Nightingale singing away :D (and of course, it had to have a twig in front of it)

Common whitethroat!

Male blackcap

Hiding Nightingale

Although I took dozens of pictures, the birds were too well hidden :(

And from there, off to Sheffield Park Gardens.... despite the car park being full to overflowing, the size of the gardens is such that the number of people wasn't too apparent.

Beginnings of the water lillies....

I was using the Panasnic G5 with the 100-300 lens for the bird pics - just managed to grab a flight shot before the Mallard disappeared out of frame!

Canada Goose nesting..

Camelias in full bloom :D

Well it really has been the most glorious of days - I hope it's the first of many more to come.
