First stop was Walkers Cafe for brekkie... sausage, bacon and egg roll with a cuppa.. very nice.
We counted a total of 23 Red-legged partidges throughout the day - mostly on the way up but a few coming home. Also saw Yellowhammer and Corn Bunting not as many as we'd hoped to see.
The weather was glorious - very bright and sunny
After parking the car we spied this very tame robin as we walked into the reserve!!
and on the way in a WOODCOCK!! woo hoo... stayed well hidden and I couldn't get a pic but great to see it!!
Sun glorious sun!!
Started off down on the beach... you really need a scope for birding here.. and I don't have one!
Loads of shells..
and back up in the reserve
Spotted Redshank
Flight of Shelduck
Female Teal
Male Teal
Avocet!
Curlew
Godwit - think it's a Black-tailed?
Avocts (there were dozens) being hassled by a gull!!
Came back to the feeder area on the way out and an obliging wren entertained
and from there onto Hunstanton - in search of Fulmars.. several pairs nesting in the cliff face
and Wind Turbines out at sea
Down onto the beach..
and on the cliff face, several pairs of Fulmars were nesting
Back up from the beach
time for some fish and chips before heading off to see Little Owls at Flitcham Abbey Farm... great stuff. Some Long-tailed Tits were nesting in the gorse just below the hide..so close I do hope they don't get disturbed!
So a great day out - great birds at Titchwell - Spotted Redshank, Redshank, Godwit, Avocets, Teals, Curlew, Marsh Harrier, Stonechat, several Skylarks - what a wonderful sound... Pintails, Brent Geese, Oystercatchers, Knot, Grey Plover and a Snipe flew from underneath the hide window and off before we really registered its presence!!
Fantastic weather and a wonderful day out!
