I was going to pop into Warnham today, post shopping, but the reserve was closed... a new car park is being laid....
The rain shower had stopped and a glimmer of the sun had appeared so, on the spur of the moment, I visited Widewater Lagoon.
Four RB Mergansers were present and being mobbed by gulls. The light was poor and the lagoon quite choppy so difficult to focus... this pic is the best of the bunch
Little Egrets (2) there as usual... bit flighty today.. it was quite breezy
Greenshank
there was also a Redshank but too far away for a picture.
And the family of Mute Swans had a flight around the lagoon and back again... perhaps practising for leaving.. the cygnets are so big now..
About 7 Little Grebes and various gulls plus some Teal....
Pleasant wander.....

A merganser is something I'd so like to see. Looked for goosander on my patch pond today but no joy. No pochards yet either!
