Easton Lodge and Snowdrops

Not the best of days... mostly grey and windy, but off we went to be cheered by the sight of the Snowdrops of Easton Lodge - in fact carpets of snowdrops - Easton Lodge isn't open that often so we took advantage of one of the Snowdrop open days..

Easton Lodge is an old Hunting Lodge .. it was destroyed by fire in 1847 and then later rebuilt in a different style..

and a few winter aconites...

Osterley House and Park

The day dawned with grey skies. - so where to today.... .. we headed off to Osterley House & Park.... through built-up London suburbs....

It was a 'cool' day but good to have a wander.. ironically we were there almost exactly a year ago today...

Bird highlight of the day was z Red Kyte and two Kestrels still the same time.. Also s fly by Kingfisher.. Plus various water fowl. Goldfinches etc..

A warm cuppa and an excellent scone were had..

before a wander down to the lake

and a visit to the house itself

quote "Once described by Horace Walpole as "the palace of palaces", Osterley was created in the late 18th century by architect and designer Robert Adam for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients.."
