Monday 20 Oct... we arrive in Venice..

We were up at crack of dawn.. in fact earlier than that and headed off to Gatwick for our flight to Venice.

Flight was on time and we had a following wind so arrived about 10 minutes early.  Having left the UK in brilliant sunshine it was a bit daunting to land in thick fog... which remained for the rest of the day.... however....

Got the boat from the airport to the Rialto Bridge, Pete did some brilliant map reading which was a challenge for the first visit to Venice, found the hotel and  checked in and headed out into the town.  The campo (square) view from our hotel.

We were to cross this bridge many time on our way to our fav restaurant for dinner.

Off to eat and this was the only evening for nighttime photography.  We discovered a great restaurant and were to return there each evening.  It was very conveniently situated for the hotel...

So we ended our first day... and it was great !!!
