Venice at high tide and boat trips...

We were out for dinner last night when a text came through advising me that our flight home on Friday was cancelled due to industrial action in Italy..  Managed to transfer flights to Sunday and the hotel can accommodate us for the two extra nights.. phew!!

Today we had a visit to the Doges Palace and St Marks basilica... the Palace was pretty inpressive but the Basilica - not as much ...

But the tide was high and water was coming up through the paving slaps in St Marks Square

After visiting those to points of interest, we caught the water bus over to St Georgia Maggiore - which was quite amazing...

Up the bell tower for magnificent views out over Venice..

And we'd booked to have our very own boat tour of Venice... complete with bottle of Presecco... the trips - despite the rather black clouds - was great.. and the wine was consumed with relish

and finally another day over.... until we got out for dinner tonight that is :D
