Today the forecast was for rain and strong winds in the morning... so we headed into town as Pete... yes Pete... needed some new shoes and a new cap. Both successfully purchased we headed off clockwise around the island to the east.
Our first stop was a car park overlooking Rocquaine Bay. So in the wet we set off for a walk along the coastline. Even in the greyness of the day it was beautiful.
Wildflowers everywhere
I don't know what these are... they are very like bluebells.. so if anyone can ID them?...
Oystercatchers everywhere...
We then drove for about 5 minutes and stopped for lunch in a cafe attached to Guernsey Pearl - and meanwhile the SUN CAME OUT- we had crab sandwiches before looking around Fort Grey... fascinating place!
We saw a couple of these flitting around the beach... Pretty certain this is a Water Pipit given the distinctive eye stripe!...
Another short drive to see some of the Bridget Ozanne Orchid Fields...
A walk down on the beach..
and finally finding our way back to the hotel.... I'm driving and Pete... fortunately is navigating; Pete being a much much more accomplished navigator then I am!!
